"His loan expires next week and he won't be fit before then," Cobblers manager Colin Calderwood told his sides official website.
"He has been a bit unfortunate because he would have played at Rochdale but the game was postponed and he didn't get a chance to be involved this week because he picked up this injury.
"He will go back now but we will keep an eye on him and something might happen in the future.
