Frank lined up as Fulham consider Arbeloa dismissal

Fulham are actively discussing a managerial change, with former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank identified as the primary candidate to replace Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Cottagers sit at the foot of the Premier League table without a single victory from their opening six fixtures, having suffered a 2-1 defeat against Ipswich Town over the weekend.

Arbeloa was brought in during the summer to overhaul Fulham tactical identity, but the Spanish coach has struggled to find a workable balance between defence and attack.

With upcoming fixtures against Hull City and Chelsea approaching, the club are fearful of becoming cut adrift in the relegation zone.

Frank has spent eight months out of management since departing West London and is understood to be keen on a return to the top flight.

Club directors are expected to hold formal discussions before the end of the week, with an internal source noting on Tuesday: "The board gave full backing during the summer window, but the trajectory on the pitch has not met expectations. Swift action is needed before the gap to safety widens."
