The 21-year-old goalkeeper, who has been at Craven Cottage for the past four season's but has managed only one firs team appearance during that time.

"It was a great surprise," Batista told the offical Sporting Lisbon website.

"There were a number of clubs interested but agreement was reached with Sporting and it was good for me to come here."
