The 31-year-old was widely expected to leave Old Trafford following the signing of Robin van Persie and now appears to be close to a reunion with Martin Jol, who was his manager at Tottenham.
If the deal, believed to be worth as much as ?5million, is completed without any issues, Jol hopes to include the Bulgarian in his squad for Saturday's trip to West Ham.
