Burley Reveals Speroni Bid

Cottagers boss Mark Hughes wanted to bring in the Eagles shot-stopper, with first-choice keeper Mark Schwarzer linked with a move to Arsenal, but the deal fell through.

"There was an interest but nothing materialised," Burley told the South London Press.

"We've managed to keep hold of Julian, certainly until January at least, which is great. He has proven himself to be a fantastic keeper over a number of years and I'm very pleased he's still at the club."
