"We're making some great strides in terms of our fitness and patterns of play," Coleman said after the game. "Bearing in mind we were playing against one of the giants of Europe, it was a tough game, but in the end we had the better chances and we could have come away with the win.

"This was our fourth pre-season game so we had to up the pace, that's why we wanted to be up against a tough team. I was delighted with the guys, it was a good display and we're going in the right direction.

"It was a clean sheet and I was happy with the way we defended. When you're playing against a team that likes to keep the ball for long periods, you have to be a bit patient, and we were. Overall it was a good run out for us."
