The former Fulham captain, who helped steer the club clear of the Premiership relegation zone after the dismissal of Jean Tigana last month, becomes the Premierships youngest ever manager at just 32-years-old.

"I'm delighted and have to pinch myself that I've been asked to take charge of a Premier League club," said Coleman.

"I saw some of the names that had been linked with the job, and I felt I could do equally as good a job," he added.

Reserve team coach Steve Kean, was named as Colemans assistant manager.
