However, Davis is still suffering with a knee ligament injury picked up in pre-season and a scan on Monday revealed it would not heal in time for the player to pass a medical before the close of the transfer window on August 31st.
"After close inspection it is apparent that Sean Davis is presently unable to complete a medical prior to the close of the transfer window," Everton boss David Moyes told the club's official website
"With that in mind, we are not able to complete the transfer at present."
