Assistant boss Mark Bowen insists Fulham are discussing a new deal with 10m rated striker Bobby Zamora.

Zamora, 29, is being chased by Liverpool and Birmingham, but Bowen blasted claims that the club are yet to open talks with the England forward over a new contract.

His current deal runs until 2012, and Bowen said: 'What I know is that he is currently in discussions with the club over a possible new deal. It has been ongoing for a few months and obviously way before Mark and I came in.

'But my understanding is that we are hopeful that Bobby will agree a long-term contract with the club.'
