Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has confirmed enquiring over the availability of McBride as he searches for reinforcements for the new season.

Fulham insist that there has been no formal bid for the striker though, and say that the 34-year-old will not be leaving Craven Cottage.

McBride, who played in his third World Cup over the summer, is due back in training and Chris Coleman is keen to keep him in his squad for the coming season.

With speculation mounting over his future, Fulham have taken the step of releasing a statement to insist McBride will be staying put.

"Following recent press speculation regarding other clubs' interest in Brian McBride, the club would like to make it clear that no offer for Brian has been accepted and that he is very much part of Chris Coleman's plans for next season," read a statement on the club website.

"Brian, along with the rest of the World Cup participants, will join the rest of the squad for training this week."
