Reports are claiming that Fulham's directors were unwilling to meet Chelsea Village plc's demands for a substantial compensation package in exchange for allowing the Cottagers to play their home fixtures at Stamford Bridge.

"We're disappointed negotiations have broken down," said a club spokesman.

"We've established a very good relationship with Chelsea and were confident we could do business for a short-term groundshare, which would have benefited both clubs."
