Hodgson Remains Upbeat

Fulham actually started the game quite well but, as the Fulham boss pointed out in his post-match interviews, once United took a first half lead there was only ever going to be one winner.

"I thought we actually started the game quite well," Hodgson told ITV Sports after the match.

"To go first a goal down and then two goals down, from a wonder striker from Tevez, the second half was always going to be difficult.

"I thought for large periods of the game we played quite well and actually created chance's of our own.

"There's no better team in the country at playing when they're 2-0 up than them because they keep the ball very well and have wonderfully gifted players.

"The second goal was a wonder strike but I'm disappointed with the other goals we conceded. I don't think we did ourselves justice there.

"After the game you can always be analytical and say we shouldn't have done this and we shouldn't have done that, but what really done us was being two goals down by the middle of the first half and after that it was always going to be very difficult to come back against a team of Manchester United's calibre.
