Jol Seeks Further Ajax Talks

The Cottagers have so far been frustrated by Ajax's refusal to discuss compensation for the release of their manager.

Speaking after Tuesday night's 7-0 friendly win over amateur side Rijnsburgse Boys, Jol said: "We will talk again in the morning about the future of Ajax. We need to strengthen the squad - everyone knows this - but there's no money."

He added: "We have lost some good players and no-one is coming in. I fear for the future of Ajax in this position. Ajax know about the offer from Fulham.

"In the past I have had other offers that no-one knows about. Now in England it is public, but that's not my fault."

Fulham chief executive Alistair Mackintosh is in Amsterdam to discuss the move but has so far been unable to secure the departure of Jol, who has two years left on his contract.

Reports early on Tuesday claimed Jol was prepared to snub Fulham, providing Ajax gave him the funds to strengthen the squad.

However, later in the day he appeared to have performed a U-turn and it is understood the 54-year-old is intent on succeeding Roy Hodgson at Craven Cottage.
