The Whites drew 1-1 with Bournemouth with Bobby Zamora scoring on his return to fitness and Lewington was clearly pleased to see Zamora and his squad complete their second competitive friendly of the week with a clean bill of health.

"It was his [Zamora] first run out and you hope you haven't introduced him too early but we've got good guys treating him and we've made sure we've built him up and he looked good against Bournemouth.

"Danny [Murphy] also played 45 minutes and he's getting back into it. These are all positives out of the game and that's what you want.

"That's what pre-season friendly games are all about. The one thing you hope for in a pre-season friendly is that you suffer no injuries, to be brutally honest. We've come out injury free so that's great.

"We looked a bit leggy in the first half but between the Brentford game and today we've trained and it's about where we are getting to, rather than where we are now. We looked better in the second half and could have scored a lot more goals."

Lewington was keen to praise Saturday's opponents after the game, who will no doubt continue to earn high praise for the manner in which they go about their business on the pitch.

"This is the second year we've come to Bournemouth and they're fantastic. They don't kick you and they play football. We enjoy coming here because we know we're going to get a good, honest game of football, so well done to Bournemouth."
