Bobby Zamora has had a successful operation on the injury he picked up against Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday but the club have refused to give a timescale on when he might return. The striker suffered a broken fibula in yesterday's 2-1 win at Craven Cottage, after which his manager, Mark Hughes, said he feared the striker would be out for four months.
Fulham's website reported today that Zamora's operation was "viewed as successful" by the surgeon.
The fracture to the fibula was repaired and ligament damage was also discovered and repaired during the treatment.
The loss of Zamora, who has forced his way into England contention in the past year and scored 19 goals for Fulham last season, will be a major setback to Hughes. The striker signed a new four-year contract last Friday.
