Johnson's brace earned Fulham a precious 2-0 win against Steve Bruce's side at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, a result which took them up to 14th in the Premier League table and sent the Latics into the bottom three.

"Johnson and Zamora were a constant threat to the Wigan defence," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.

"That is what we hoped they would be and what we hope they will continue to be.

"I am happy to have 11 points after nine games.

"We remain modest here at Fulham. We know it is going to be a hard season.

"But certainly 11 points sounds a lot better than eight from eight.

"It was an important win."
