Andy Johnson has thanked Fulham fans after making his comeback in victory over Wigan Athletic.

The striker who has endured a lengthy period out on the sidelines continued his return to full match fitness with an energetic showing in the closing stages of the game.

"It's been such a long time, I'm just delighted to get some game time," Johnson told fulhamfc.com. "I had 30 minutes last week and another 15 minutes this week but it wasn't really about me, it was about the team. We got a great result and it was an important three points for us.

"I'd like to say thank you so much to the fans. I thought they were absolutely fantastic; to come back to a set of fans like that is amazing. It sent a shiver down my spine and I just need to get match fit now and give them back what they gave me.

"The fans have been fantastic, I've had some great letters sent to me. It's been a tough time, I'm not going to lie, I was down for a long time but you see the rewards when you come back out and see the fans."
