£5m price tag placed on Steed

Newcastle interest took a sudden reality check when Fulham asked for £5m for Malbranque.

With just one year left on his contract it's too high a price to pay.

Newcastle are confident though they can come up with a deal. They join a list of clubs including Liverpool, Man City and Everton who are said to be looking at the Frenchman.
