The supporters' pressure group, Back to the Cottage, staged a peaceful protest outside Loftus Road before Sunday's 1-0 win against Middlesbrough urging Al Fayed to resurrect plans to return to Craven Cottage.

Al Fayed hit out at these fans on the club's official website: "The tiny minority who abuse and criticise are not worthy of being called 'supporters' because they fail to appreciate everything I've done and am doing is designed simply for the long-term benefit of Fulham Football Club," he said on the club's official website.

"I have recently received hundreds of letters of support from people I regard as true Fulham fans. I'm greatly heartened by the warmth so many fans have shown and that encourages me to carry on the process of building a great club, which we have started together."
