How USMNT players performed in Europe’s top five leagues: 12-14 March

The future is bright for the USMNT, with more players than ever plying their trade in the big European leagues.

Every week it seems like there are new players hailing from the States emerging in England, France, German, Italy and Spain, and it bodes well for the future of the men's national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup on home soil.

Here's a quick roundup of how USMNT players got on in the latest round of matches across the big five leagues.

14. Konrad de la Fuente

Position: Winger

Club: Barcelona

The Barcelona winger's first-team status has regressed slightly over the past few weeks but after another strong performance for the B-team against Espanyol, he can't be far from a return to the first-team fold.

He played 90 minutes as Barça B edged out their city rivals with a 1-0 win.

13. Zack Steffen

Position: Goalkeeper

Club: Manchester City

Keeper Steffen has been a regular in the Manchester City squad this season, as the former Columbus Crew stopper has established himself as number two to Ederson.

He was on the bench as City secured a comfortable win over Fulham on Saturday.

Position: Midfielder

Club: Wolves

The New York-born midfielder is one of the lesser known prospects on the scene but he has been making waves at Wolves this season.

The 20-year-old has five Premier League appearances under his belt, and was once again unavailable for the reserves due to his first-team commitments this weekend. He could play a part against Liverpool on Monday evening.

11. Tim Ream

Position: Defender

Club: Fulham

A regular for Fulham earlier in the season, the experienced Ream has lost his place recently as Joachim Andersen and Tosin Adarabioyo have struck up a fearsome understanding at the heart of defence.

But the former New York Red Bulls stalwart remains an important part of Scott Parker's set-up and was once again on the bench for their defeat to Man City.

10. Antonee Robinson

Position: Left-back

Club: Fulham

Another Fulham defender having to bide his time 23-year-old Robinson, who has had to make do with appearances off the bench in their recent matches with Liverpool and City.

Ola Aina has made the left-back spot his own but Robinson was given the final ten minutes as the Cottagers fell to a disappointing defeat against Pep Guardiola's side.

9. Yunus Musah

Position: Winger

Club: Valencia

There was speculation that Valencia youngster Musah could switch allegiances given his eligibility for England, Italy and Ghana, but he has committed his international future to the USMNT, and that future looks very bright indeed.

But he's having to wait patiently. After a strong start to life in La Liga, he has been limited to cameo appearances recently, and got five minutes off the bench in their 1-0 defeat to Levante on Friday.

8. Chris Richards

Position: Defender

Club: Hoffenheim

A loan to Hoffenheim has come at a good time for Bayern prospect Chris Richards, as he has enhanced his reputation by establishing himself in the mid-table side's defence.

He's played 90 minutes in five of their six Bundesliga matches since arriving, but tasted defeat for the second time on Sunday as his side went down 2-0 to Stuttgart.

7. Tyler Adams

Position: Midfielder

Club: RB Leipzig

Leipzig are on an absolute tear in the Bundesliga this season, and 22-year-old Adams has been a key figure in their midfield.

He was given a rest for their 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, though, emerging from the bench to play just five minutes after starting against Liverpool a few days earlier.

6. Timothy Weah

Position: Forward

Club: Lille

Weah once had a reputation as one of the most exciting young players in French football, but while his stock has fallen somewhat since his exit from PSG, there are high hopes for his future both in Ligue 1 and on the international stage.

He has been in and out of the Lille team this term, but did start their 0-0 draw with Monaco at the weekend, being replaced by Luis Araujo for the final 20 minutes.

5. Josh Sargent

Position: Forward

Club: Werder Bremen

It looks as if Sargent is on his way to the very top of German football, but Saturday's defeat to Bayern Munich was a disappointing one for the 21-year-old.

He wasn't able to net for a fourth successive Bundesliga game as Bremen fell to a 3-1 defeat to the league leaders, but he did make his 15th straight start for Florian Kohfeldt's team.

4. John Brooks

Position: Defender

Club: Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg are enjoying a terrific season in the Bundesliga and at the heart of it all has been Brooks, who made his 26th appearance of the season against Schalke.

It was a fruitful one too, as they kept a clean sheet and swept aside Schalke 5-0 to go third in the table.

3. Giovanni Reyna

Position: Midfielder

Club: Borussia Dortmund

Son of USMNT legend Claudio Reyna, the 18-year-old is the latest in a long line of young players to explode onto the scene at BVB, and he made his return from a minor injury they beat Hertha 2-0 at the weekend.

He replaced Thorgan Hazard for the final 20 minutes and had a hand in the build-up to Youssoufa Moukoko's late clincher.

2. Weston McKennie

Position: Midfielder

Club: Juventus

It's been a disappointing season for Juventus, but they remain in with a small chance of reining Inter back in at the top of Serie A, and the USNMT's golden boy will be expected to play his part in that.

He's lost his starting spot in recent weeks though and had to make do with an appearance from the bench, replacing Alvaro Morata in their win over Cagliari.

1. Christian Pulisic

Position: Winger

Club: Chelsea

It's been a mixed season so far for Pulisic but there are signs that he is gradually beginning to win the trust of Thomas Tuchel.

He made his first Premier League start under the German on Saturday but wasn't able to inspire his side to a win, as they made do with a 0-0 draw at Leeds.
